About the role
To be recognised as the leading sports brand in Tasmania, the Media and Public Relations Advisor plays a critical role in achieving that ambition. You'll be responsible for shaping how cricket is seen, heard and experienced across Tasmania and beyond. Through strategic communications, media engagement and compelling storytelling, you'll help build connection with fans, inspire participation in the game, and strengthen the profile of Tasmanian cricket and our brands such as Tasmanian Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes.
Working closely with the General Manager - Marketing & Communications, you'll lead media relations, shape communications strategy, manage reputation and issues, and uncover stories that showcase the people and moments that make cricket special. From community cricket initiatives and major events to elite performance programs and commercial partnerships, you'll play a key role in bringing Cricket Tasmania's story to life.
This is a unique opportunity for a communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships, and wants to make a meaningful impact through the power of storytelling.
About you
You're a passionate storyteller and experienced communications professional who understands how to turn moments into meaningful stories and build strong connections with audiences. Whether it's managing media enquiries, preparing key stakeholders for interviews, developing strategic communications, or identifying the next great cricket story, you're equally comfortable thinking strategically and rolling up your sleeves to deliver.
You have a strong background in media, journalism, public relations or communications and are known for your exceptional writing skills, sound judgement and ability to build trusted relationships. You thrive under pressure, navigate changing priorities with confidence, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to your work.
Most importantly, you're passionate about sport, people and community, and excited by the opportunity to help shape the narrative of cricket across Tasmania.
