The NBL Group is the fast-moving, entrepreneurial sports and entertainment business behind Australia's two premier basketball competitions: the National Basketball League (NBL) and the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).

The Role

You will work closely with the GM Technology to turn business priorities into engineering outcomes. You stay hands-on with the code, while stepping into technical direction and helping the team around you keep moving forward.

Technical Leadership and Delivery

• Own technical direction across web, mobile, backend and cloud platforms
• Break down complex problems into clear plans with sound prioritisation
• Support shared technology initiatives across NBL Group and LK Group

Hands-On Engineering and App Development

• Build and maintain full stack applications using React, TypeScript and Node.js, including React Native for mobile
• Design APIs, middleware and serverless services that are reliable and performant
• Review code and help resolve production issues with care

Deployment, Architecture and Engineering Standards

• Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows so releases are reliable and repeatable
• Keep runbooks and rollback procedures current so releases are safe when it matters
• Champion engineering standards across testing, security and documentation

AI, Agents and Workflow Innovation

• Identify and explore practical AI and automation opportunities across the business
• Prototype AI agents and workflows that connect with existing systems and data platforms
• Evaluate new AI tools and make pragmatic calls on where they add value

MSP Oversight, Mentoring and the Live Sports Ecosystem

• Act as the internal point of contact for the Managed Service Provider
• Support engineers through code review, day to day guidance and pairing
• Keep platforms stable through game days, finals and major launches

Who We're Looking For

You are a full stack engineer with solid experience across the stack, ready to take on a broader remit, or you have been leading the team and are looking for an environment where that can grow further.

You are the right fit if you:

• Are strong with React, TypeScript and modern JavaScript, and comfortable on the back end with Node.js, APIs and middleware
• Have worked on mobile app delivery, ideally with React Native or a similar framework
• Have a working understanding of AWS, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical people
• Are naturally starting to step into code review, mentoring or guiding others

Experience with an MSP or external technology partner is a plus. So is any exposure to AI tools, workflow automation or live event platforms.
