About the Role

Brisbane Tigers and Carina Junior Rugby League Football Club are seeking an experienced and passionate Pathways & A Grade Head Coach to lead the club's player and coach development programs while strengthening alignment with the Brisbane Tigers pathway system.

This pivotal leadership role will oversee pathway development across Carina JRLFC while coaching the BRL A Grade team. The successful candidate will foster talent development, drive a positive club culture, and establish Carina as the premier hub for Brisbane Tigers Junior Representative and Academy programs.

A key focus of the role will be providing ongoing coaching, mentoring and development support to Carina Junior Rugby League coaches, enhancing coaching capability and creating a consistent development framework across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities

Pathways Leadership & Development

  • Lead and coordinate player development programs across the club.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performance, player-centred environment.
  • Support and mentor coaches across junior and senior programs.
  • Establish clear development pathways from grassroots through to representative and senior football.

Coach Development & Support

  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to Carina coaches.
  • Facilitate coach education and professional development opportunities.
  • Implement consistent coaching standards and development frameworks across all age groups.

Recruitment & Retention

  • Lead player and coach recruitment initiatives.
  • Implement strategies to improve player retention and strengthen club participation.
  • Identify and attract emerging talent into Carina and Brisbane Tigers pathway programs.

A Grade Head Coaching

  • Coach and oversee the BRL A Grade team.
  • Develop training programs, game plans and performance standards aligned with club objectives.
  • Drive a high-performance culture that supports both team success and player progression.

Pathway Integration & Talent Identification

  • Strengthen alignment between Carina JRLFC and Brisbane Tigers pathways.
  • Support player progression into representative, academy and senior programs.
  • Identify and develop emerging talent across all age groups.
  • Work closely with Brisbane Tigers staff to ensure consistent development outcomes.

Strategic Planning & Operations

  • Contribute to football planning and operational delivery.
  • Ensure pathway programs align with club objectives and governance requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of long-term football development strategies.

Community Engagement & Club Development

  • Build strong relationships with players, families, volunteers, schools and community stakeholders.
  • Promote club values and support participation growth initiatives.
  • Act as an ambassador for both Carina JRLFC and Brisbane Tigers.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Talent identification and player development outcomes.
  • Progression of players into Brisbane Tigers representative and academy programs.
  • BRL A Grade team performance and competitiveness.
  • Player and coach recruitment and retention.
  • Positive club culture and stakeholder engagement.
  • Successful integration of Brisbane Tigers pathways and development programs.
  • Growth in community participation and club engagement.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Proven leadership of football programs, including staff, coaches and players.
  • Strong ability to build and sustain a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Senior-level Rugby League coaching experience, preferably at reserve grade level or above.
  • Sound knowledge of modern coaching practices, game strategy and player development.
  • Experience developing and managing player pathways from junior to elite levels.
  • Commitment to player welfare and long-term athlete development.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to align football operations with club strategy.
  • Strong Rugby League networks and a passion for community engagement.

Qualifications, Experience & Licences

  • Minimum three years' senior coaching experience in BRL, Hostplus Cup, QRL statewide competitions or equivalent high-performance programs.
  • Current NRL/QRL Senior Coach Accreditation (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
  • Demonstrated experience in player development and pathway programs.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence.
