About the Role

Join our Sheldon College Learn to Swim team and make a splash in a heated pool environment. Whether you're a seasoned swim instructor or just starting out, we offer a warm atmosphere to help you grow your skills and confidence. This is a Casual position 

  • We are open Monday to Thursday and Saturday mornings (penalty rates apply).  
  • Candidates don’t need prior experience; however, qualifications remain applicable. 
  • We offer a year-round program in an onsite heated pool

About You  

  • You are passionate about water safety and learning to swim and create an environment that is both informative and constructive while being a fun experience for students.
  • You have great stakeholder management including with children and their families.
  • You are energised by the success and progression of students and your energy and enthusiasm is aligned to the College philosophy of Love, Laughter and Learning.

You will hold:

  • AUSTSWIM/ASCTA Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certificate or equivalent
  • AUSTSWIM/ASCTA Teacher of Infants (desirable)
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or the ability to obtain one) 

Child Safety and Wellbeing

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Commitment to upholding child safety, duty of care and appropriate professional conduct within a school environment
  • Ability to comply with and uphold the College’s Child Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures
  • Completion and maintenance of mandatory Child Protection and Child Safety and Wellbeing training
  • Responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students

It is an inherent requirement of all staff members’ employment to meet mandatory reporting obligations. Staff must apply a culturally sensitive and trauma informed approach in all Child Wellbeing related activities and Child Safety investigations across all areas of the College.
