The OWIA
The Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) supports and prepares elite Australian athletes for podium-calibre performances at World Cup, World Championship and Olympic Winter Games events. OWIA operates in partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), the National Institutes Network (NIN) and key stakeholders across the Australian high performance system.

The Role
Contract, 2 days/week to 30 June 2030.
As OWIA’s Lead Sports Dietitian, you will be responsible for delivering world’s best practice nutrition services to Contracted Athletes. You will contribute to athlete performance, health and wellbeing through evidence-based nutrition planning, education, and best practice governance of supplement use (aligned with anti-doping requirements).
You will provide leadership, coordination and oversight across OWIA’s nutrition network, helping to shape and deliver a consistent, high-quality approach to performance nutrition. Working closely with coaches and performance support staff, you will play a key role in supporting athlete performance within a multidisciplinary environment, enabling athletes to perform at their best on the world stage.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Delivering individual athlete consultations and group education sessions
- Leading supplement governance and supporting anti-doping compliant practice
- Leading, mentoring and coordinating OWIA Sports Dietitian(s) and NIN nutrition providers
- Developing and reviewing nutrition resources and OWIA nutrition-related policies
- Contributing to multidisciplinary planning and case management with coaches, medical and performance staff

About you
You are an experienced high performance Sports Dietitian who brings credibility, strong clinical reasoning and an evidence-based approach. You operate confidently in complex environments, building trust quickly with athletes, coaches and support staff. Comfortable balancing hands-on delivery with leadership and oversight, you plan, prioritise and communicate clearly while adapting to changing performance demands.
You take a flexible, athlete-centred approach to service delivery across face-to-face, online and remote settings, tailoring your style to suit different individuals and levels of engagement. With a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement, you contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team, influencing outcomes while maintaining high professional standards.
You will have:
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics (postgraduate qualifications at Masters/PhD level desirable)
- Current membership with Dietitians Australia (DA) or international equivalent
- Accredited or Advanced Sports Dietitian (Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA) or equivalent)
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a high performance sports setting including in a technical/delivery role
- Strong understanding of high performance systems and stakeholders (including NIN and NSO environments)
- Demonstrated expertise in quality assured, evidence-based practice
- Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- High standards of confidentiality, professionalism and discretion
- Capability to make complex decisions in high-pressure environments
In addition, you will need:
- Australian working rights
- A valid Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
- A valid driver’s licence
- Flexibility to travel to DTE locations as required by the Sport Program schedule
