ABOUT THE ROLES
Referee Supervisor
Referee Supervisors are responsible for supporting officials throughout competitions, maintaining professionalism across venues, assisting with behaviour management, and helping referees feel supported and confident on court.
The role includes:
- Visible court presence
- Supporting referees during games
- Assisting with behaviour management
- Maintaining competition standards
- Supporting apprentice referees
- Assisting with reports and game administration
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Preferred applicants will:
- Hold an A Grade referee accreditation
However, strong B Grade referees with:
- Leadership potential
- Strong communication skills
- Positive professionalism
- Interest in referee development and mentoring will also be considered.
We are looking for people who:
- Lead by example

- Support referee confidence and wellbeing
- Build positive referee culture
- Want to help strengthen officiating at Westgate
- Demonstrate calm leadership in pressure situations
- Are approachable, supportive, and consistent in expectations
- Show professionalism both on and off court
Applicants should:
- Be a financial A Grade or B Grade referee, or recognised as an experienced official within the association
- Not play or coach in a team during the session they are supervising
- Have strong administration and organisational skills with close attention to detail
- Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, particularly during conflict situations
- Be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Have an understanding of Child Safety and Member Protection requirements
- Hold a current Working with Children Check and Police Check (or be willing to obtain them)
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict situations
PAY RATES
- Referee Supervisor: $28.00 per hour
- Referee Development Lead: $30.00 per hour
