About the role 

The Senior National Development Squad (NDS) Physical Performance Coach will be responsible for assisting in directing the overall physical development of assigned NDS athletes and players in the National Player Support Program (NPSP) in the National Development Squads in Queensland.  
 
The role will be responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring of individualised strength and conditioning programs for National Development Program (NDP) players, and will lead the coordination of relevant ancillary sport science support. Effective communication with all key stakeholders involved in delivering programs to both National Development Squad and NPSP players is an essential requirement of this position.  
 
The appointment will form part of Tennis Australia’s physical performance team and should help to grow the integration of strength and conditioning at all player development levels within the sport. This is a full-time fixed-term opportunity commencing August 2026 until February 2027.  

In this role you will: 

  • Design and implement evidence-based strength and conditioning programs for all National Development Squad and National Player and NPSP consistent with their development needs. 
  • Assist in developing strength and conditioning programs for NDS players. 
  • Support Tennis Australia athlete development system integration and advancement in the National Development Squad environment both State and Nationally. 
  • Collaborate openly with all relevant TA and Player Development stakeholders.  
  • Provide support to and manage any casual, intern or assistant strength and conditioning coaches involved in the delivery of the National Development Squad physical performance program. 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Tertiary degree in Exercise or Sports Science or equivalent  
  • ASCA Level 2 
  • Technical S&C knowledge across sport preferably tennis, particularly in fundamental long term athlete development principles, periodization/planning, training techniques, coaching trends, and recovery methods. 
  • High level interpersonal skills to effectively develop and maintain partnerships, networks and stakeholder  relationships. 
  • A current Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain) 
  • Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia
