About the Tournament

The New Balance Southern Peninsula Community Tournament is one of the largest community basketball events in Australia, drawing teams and families from across the country. It runs from 3–5 July 2026, with two weeks of intensive preparation in the lead-up.

About the Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to build practical experience in sport and event delivery. You'll work alongside our staff team across the fortnight before tournament weekend, getting genuine exposure to how a major community sporting event comes together.

We're particularly keen to hear from:

  • Early-career professionals looking to break into sports administration or events
  • Anyone considering a career change into sport and recreation
  • SPBA members and community supporters who want hands-on involvement

Where you'll contribute:

  • Pre-event operations
  • Sports operations and grading
  • Fixtures and draw preparation
  • Equipment and kit packing
  • Set-up and pack-down crew

What You'll Take Away

  • Direct experience inside a multi-venue, multi-day sporting event
  • Practical exposure to operations, logistics, and event delivery
  • A reference from SPBA for your CV
  • Snacks & drinks provided across all shifts
  • Exclusive merchandise
  • The chance to learn from an experienced staff team

About You

A positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn are all you need. Basketball or sporting experience is welcome but not required. Under-18 applicants welcome with parental consent.

How to Apply

Express your interest via the link below with your name, availability between 22 June - 5 July 2026, and a brief note on what you'd like to gain from the experience. Brief expressions of interest only - no formal CV required.
