About the Role

Reporting to the HA Pathway Technical Lead, this role provides strategic and hands-on leadership of the National U21 Junior Women’s Team, including preparation for targeted international events such as the FIH Junior World Cup, the National U18 Junior Women’s Program. The role also plays a critical part in technical leadership and support to our National Athlete Pathway Programs (NAPP) and coaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the National U21 Junior Women’s Team at targeted international events, including the FIH Junior World Cup.
  • Provide lead coaching support to the National U18 Junior Women’s Team (subject to program priorities).
  • Plan and deliver national camps, training environments and competition preparation aligned to HA frameworks.
  • Support the HA Pathway Camps Program through planning, delivery and evaluation.
  • Support the HA Talent Accelerator Academy Technical Lead in delivery, operations and coaching of the Talent Accelerator Academy.
  • Lead athlete identification, categorisation and selection across the junior pathway.
  • Monitor athlete development using HA’s Athlete Management System and provide feedback to pathway coaches.
  • Collaborate closely with coaches, performance staff and key stakeholders to support athlete progression.
  • In conjunction with the Pathways Technical Director, provide technical leadership and direction to the NAPP daily training environments.
  • Support NAPP coaches with individual and targeted development plans for Nationally Categorised athletes.

Essential Requirements

  • Appropriate FIH/HA coaching accreditation and coaching qualification/licence.
  • Demonstrated coaching experience at national and/or international level.
  • Understanding of the Australian high-performance sport system.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Experience coaching junior athletes in high-performance environments, with a focus on long-term development and progression.
  • Strong capability in planning, periodisation, performance analysis and athlete development.
  • Experience identifying, nurturing and transitioning high-potential talent into elite pathways.
  • Highly developed communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and connection.
  • A genuine commitment to athlete wellbeing, psychological safety and holistic development.
  • Resilience, adaptability and a growth mindset aligned to Hockey Australia values.
