Overview:
XCR is Victoria’s premier cross country and road racing series. To ensure the continued success of XCR, Athletics Victoria (AV) is seeking to engage an event crew to assist with event set-up, pack-down and logistics.
The ‘XCR Event Crew’ will form a vital component of the race day operations at each of the thirteen cross country and road race events, with the members to be remunerated for their services accordingly.
AV will provide training and guidance to the successful event crew members, which will enable them to efficiently, effectively and professionally undertake their event day duties.
It is recommended that the XCR Event Crew consist of a minimum of four people and is best suited to a club or amalgamation of clubs or individuals seeking an additional revenue source. However, unaffiliated individuals are also encouraged to apply.

Here’s a quick snippet of what the XCR season entails.
Position Description
Reports to: AV Sport Delivery team.
Location: Designated XCR & All Schools XCR event venues located across Victoria.
Working hours:
Event Day (Saturday or Sunday at event site):
- Event Bump-In (Approx: 3-4 hours) - Morning of event.
- Event Bump-Out (Approx 2 hours) - Commencing directly after completion of event.
Event Day:
- Set-up specified areas (start area, administration course) as per supplied documentation and instructions from Athletics Victoria (AV) Sport Delivery team.
- Attend to equipment maintenance during event (if required).
- Pack-down event course and administration area following completion of event.
- Complete inventory check of AV equipment following event pack down.
Pre & Post Event
- Execute the plans and instructions of the AV Sport Delivery team.
- Respond to all communications from the AV Sport Delivery team in a prompt and timely manner.
- Notify the AV Sport Delivery team of any event equipment that is defective or in need of repair.
Skills & Competencies:
Essential:
- Must be motivated and fit.
- Must have proven ability to interpret site and course maps.
- Must have proven ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
- Must show initiative and willingness to fulfil tasks to a deadline.
- Must have or be willing to attain a working with children check.
Desirable:
- Good communication skills.
- Experience in bumping in/out outdoor events.
- Knowledge of athletics events, specifically cross country and road racing.
