About the Collingwood Football Club

Collingwood Football Club (CFC) was founded in 1892.

Local residents, community and business leaders and politicians all hoped that having their own football club could help bring a measure of pride to a downtrodden suburb.

In 2026, CFC is one of the great icons of Australian sport. Our history spans 130 years, 16 premierships and more finals appearances than any other club. Most importantly, Collingwood has grown from being a football club to a sports club with a commitment to our community.

The opportunity

The AFLW Physiotherapist provides comprehensive physiotherapy services across training and competition, supporting injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and return-to-play for AFLW athletes.

Working closely with the Rehab Coordinator, Head Physiotherapist, coaches, and the high-performance team, the role leads evidence-informed rehabilitation, monitors player readiness, and contributes to performance optimisation and athlete wellbeing.

The AFLW Physiotherapist requires you to be a strong collaborator, clear communicator, and a player-centred approach are central to delivering high-quality care in an elite football environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attend and actively contribute to all AFLW training sessions and games during pre-season and in-season
  • In partnership with Rehab Coordinator, lead the rehabilitation process. This involves close collaboration to design and execute evidence informed rehabilitation programs.
  • Ensure continual assessment and performance testing to guide rehabilitation phase progressions and readiness to return to play.
  • Assist the Head Physiotherapist in assessing, diagnosing, and managing injuries. This includes providing hands-on treatment and incorporating injury prevention strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with coaching staff, high performance team and medical personnel to optimise player performance and recovery.
  • Develop strong working relationships with staff and players to facilitate optimal care, wellbeing and health of players
  • Understand players’ unique experience of injury and support their individual needs.
  • Provide effective and timely communication on player status and performance monitoring, including via regular meetings (online or in-person)
  • Maintain up to date and detailed medical note taking via centralised platform

About you

To be successful as the AFLW Physiotherapist, you will have:

  • Qualifications: working towards or completed Masters of Sports Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in elite sport
  • Skills:
    • Strong diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills.
    • Hands-on treatment expertise.
    • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation plans.
    • Strong focus on continuous improvement relating to individual and team growth.
    • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Proven ability to build strong relationships within dynamic team environment.
  • Flexibility: Availability for training sessions and gameday duties across a floating weekly schedule. Willing to travel interstate for games as required
