About Us

Shooting Australia (SA) is funded by the Australian Sports Commission and is the recognised national sporting organisation for Olympic and Paralympic target shooting in Australia. SA’s primary purpose is to identify and develop talented athletes, and to support their successful engagement and medal-winning performances in international competitions including World Cups, World Championships and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Position Purpose

The Event Manager collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver events, develop partnerships, and drive funding and commercial opportunities.

With the lead-up to the LA 2028 Games and a home Brisbane 2032 Games, this role offers opportunities to expand into international event hosting in Australia.

The Event Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Shooting Australia’s national events program, including domestic endorsed events.

Working within the Sport Development, Events and Communication team, the role supports high-quality event delivery aligned with the High Performance program and LA2028+ Strategy, contributing to the growth of Olympic and Paralympic target shooting.

Key responsibilities

Manage and deliver Shooting Australia’s Domestic Endorsed Events program, including stakeholder coordination, venue management, and risk oversight. Lead the planning and delivery of international competitions, including the WSPS World Cup – Sydney (March 2027) and the Oceania Championships (November 2027), as well as the development of future event bids.

Applicant Requirements

To be considered for this role, the applicant will need to demonstrate: 

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in event planning, coordination, and delivery
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience coordinating logistics, timelines, and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships
  • Experience in risk management and event compliance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event administration systems

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  • Experience in sporting or high-performance environments
  • Experience delivering national or international events
  • Exposure to sponsorship or commercial partnerships
  • Knowledge of Olympic and Paralympic sport structures
  • Understanding of target shooting or range operations

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
