Description

This role isn't for everyone.

It’s for the physio who is good at what they do - but is done with the model they’re doing it in. The 15-minute consults. The endless throughput. The feeling that you’re managing people rather than actually fixing them. You didn’t get into physiotherapy to rubber-stamp a treatment plan and move on to the next patient.

At Athletes Authority, the model is completely different. You’ll have the time, the environment, and the calibre of athlete to do your best clinical work every single day. Deep caseloads, genuine outcomes, and a team around you that pushes you to be better - because that’s what our athletes deserve.

We invest in our people. Our goal is to develop you into a clinician who can excel in any environment - and our track record speaks for itself.

Three of our last four staff departures left Athletes Authority for full-time roles in professional sport (Football, NRL, Rugby Union, Netball). Where else does that actually happen in Sydney?

Who We Are

Athletes Authority is Sydney's premier performance and rehabilitation facility, based in Artarmon on the Lower North Shore. We exist to give every athlete - from weekend warriors to professional competitors - access to the same high-performance environment and methodology used in the best sports programs in the country.

Our leadership team has headed up performance departments across AFL, NRL, Rugby Union, and Super Netball. We are not a standard physio clinic. We are an integrated performance facility - and our rehab program is the cornerstone of everything we do.

About the Role

As a Physiotherapist at Athletes Authority, you will work within our rehabilitation department under the leadership of Kalen O’Donoghue (Head of Rehabilitation) and Lachlan Wilmot (Director of Performance), supported by a high-functioning team of S&C coaches, sports scientists, and sports trainers.

Your performance is measured by three things:

  1. The quality of your rehab outcomes and athlete progress against their recovery milestones
  2. Your clinical utilisation - the % of your time that’s actively serving athletes
  3. Managing and maintaining a full rehab caseload of 30 athletes

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial athlete screening sessions and produce detailed handover reports to the performance team
  • Manage ongoing follow-up consults with a high-quality, personalised approach for every athlete
  • Maintain written and filmed medical records stored within AA's secure database
  • Develop, deliver, and progress rehab programs within the AA programming framework
  • Establish quantitative and qualitative exit criteria for surgical injuries
  • Conduct Return to Run (RTR) and Return to Contact (RTC) sessions on the field
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of an integrated sports physiotherapy model in the private sector
  • Deliver presentations and educational sessions to students, interns, and external coaches as directed

The Attitude We're Looking For

We hire for character first, clinical skill second. The right person will:

  • Love making athletes feel genuinely special, supported, and seen - with the ability to build trust and buy-in across a wide range of personalities
  • Have a competitive spirit and a deep sense of pride in their KPIs. If winning doesn't matter to you, we're not a fit
  • Be someone who takes ownership. If you explain away poor athlete buy-in or slow progress, this isn't the environment for you

Skills & Experience

Must have:

  • Physiotherapy degree with full AHPRA registration
  • CPR/First Aid
  • 2+ years of clinical physiotherapy experience working with athletic or sporting populations
  • A track record of outstanding outcomes with athletic case loads
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clubs, coaches, and athletes
  • The ability to adapt quickly to a flagship training system and produce world-class rehab programs

Earning Potential

Most physios in Sydney are working themselves into the ground for average pay. That's not what this is.

This role comes with a guaranteed base salary of $80,000 per annum (inclusive of super). But here’s the thing - your base is essentially the floor, not the ceiling. You’ll earn commission on top of your base salary based on all the weekly revenue you generate. At a full case load, total compensation comfortably exceeds $120,000.

Two reasons your earning potential here is unlike any physio role in Sydney:

  1. Our athletes commit for months, not sessions. Our rehab program is built for depth, not volume. You’ll have multiple touch points with each athlete every week - across the treatment room, the gym floor, and the field. That means better outcomes, stronger relationships, and a genuine showcase of your full skill set as a physio.
  2. You earn commission on the revenues you generate. We believe the more work you do, the more you should be compensated. This gives you the opportunity to continuously grow your earnign portential over time.

Why Athletes Authority?

  • A genuine, proven pathway to professional sport - not just a talking point
  • Daily exposure to and mentorship from coaches who’ve worked at the highest levels of AFL, NRL, Rugby Union, and Netball
  • A clinical environment that expects excellence and gives you the tools to deliver it
  • A tight-knit, high-performing team that takes winning seriously - and has fun doing it
  • Artarmon location - central to Sydney's North Shore, easily accessible from the CBD and inner west
  • No volume mill. No back-to-back 15-minute consults. You do the work that actually matters
