Water Polo Australia is seeking a capable and driven Assistant Coach for its Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) women’s program, supporting the Stingers National Program under the ‘One Program, Two Locations’ strategy.
This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role within Australia’s national women’s program, contributing to the preparation and progression of athletes toward international competition and future Olympic campaigns, including LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
Based within the QAS Daily Training Environment, this role supports the delivery of a nationally aligned high-performance program and contributes to the development of athletes progressing toward Stingers selection.

The Opportunity
Working closely with the QAS Head Coach and aligned to the Stingers National Program, the Assistant Coach contributes to the delivery of daily training, athlete development and performance preparation within the Brisbane high-performance environment.
This role plays an important part in supporting athletes as they progress through the national pathway, ensuring the QAS environment reflects the technical direction, expectations and standards of the Stingers program.
You will work collaboratively within an integrated performance system, contributing to athlete readiness and supporting the ongoing development of Australia’s national program.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of daily technical and tactical coaching aligned with the Stingers National Program
- Assist in preparing athletes for national selection and international performance benchmarks
- Contribute to athlete development planning and progression within the high-performance pathway
- Maintain alignment between the QAS environment and the Stingers national technical framework
- Work collaboratively with coaches and performance support staff to enhance athlete performance outcomes
- Contribute positively to the culture, standards and expectations of the QAS program
About You
You are a motivated and technically capable coach who understands the demands of high-performance sport and is committed to supporting athlete development.
You will bring:
- Coaching experience within high-performance, institute, or elite pathway environments
- Strong technical understanding of athlete development and performance progression
- Ability to work effectively within collaborative, multidisciplinary teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professionalism, accountability and a commitment to continuous learning
Experience within national, institute or elite team sport environments will be highly regarded.
