Description

Melbourne Rovers is Melbourne’s LGBTQIA+ football club, and we’ve been part of the Victorian football community since 2008. Based in Richmond, we run two senior teams with close to 50 players and we’re in the middle of a genuine growth phase. We’ve just launched a second squad for the first time in over five years, and we’re looking for a coach to grow with us.

We do things differently. We’re actively building relationships across the football ecosystem, including with A-League clubs, Football Victoria, and community non-profits. We’re in this for the long term, and the people who join us now will help shape what we become.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and deliver one weekly training session that balances development, structure and enjoyment
  • Design sessions that challenge experienced players while supporting those who are still finding their feet
  • Support Sunday match days with clear communication and tactical awareness
  • Collaborate with the coaching group and committee on season planning and squad development
  • Foster an environment where every player feels genuinely welcome and supported
  • Provide regular feedback and maintain open communication with the leadership team

What You Bring

  • Coaching accreditation is welcome but not essential. Strong practical experience and football knowledge count for plenty here
  • The ability to coach a diverse, mixed-ability group with patience and purpose
  • Clear communication and a collaborative mindset
  • Reliability and consistency across training and match days

What We Offer

  • Funded coaching qualifications for the right person. If this is the push you needed to start or progress your coaching pathway, we’ve got you covered
  • Genuine networking opportunities within Victorian football
  • Autonomy within a supportive coaching structure
  • The chance to shape a growing club from the inside

Time Commitment

  • One training session per week
  • Sunday match days during the season
  • Occasional planning meetings or club events

If you’re motivated to build something that stands for more than results alone, and you want a real role in a club on the rise, we’d love to hear from you.
