Are you passionate about aquatics and driven to create exceptional learning experiences? We are seeking an experienced and energetic Aquatic Programs Coordinator to lead, grow, and elevate our aquatic education programs.
SGAC is Sydney’s leading leisure venue! Our busy indoor Aquatic Centre is bathed in natural light, spacious and modern, creating an ideal environment for swimmers and team members alike. Currently, we attract 3,000 learn to swim students every week, over 4000 students annually through our schools program and 70,000 visitors a year!
The day to day:
Primarily focusing on two deliverables; exceptional aquatic education programming and high standard of people leadership, the Aquatic Programs Coordinator will play an integral function in strengthening our industry leadership, expanding program quality and participation, and developing a high-performing instructional team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive swim school curriculum (infant through adult levels)
- Oversee program quality, lesson standards, and participant outcomes
- Lead, mentor, and develop swim instructors and aquatic supervisors
- Ensure compliance with aquatic safety standards, risk management, and child safeguarding requirements
- Monitor KPIs including enrolment growth, retention, customer satisfaction, and instructor performance
- Drive innovation in programming to meet evolving community needs
- Build strong relationships with families, schools, and community stakeholders
- Manage staffing rosters, instructor training pathways, and professional development plans
- Ensure consistency in lesson delivery, assessment standards, and progression frameworks

You’ll also have:
- Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating swim school programs
- Experience developing structured learn-to-swim pathways (infant, preschool, school-age, adult)
- Strong understanding of skill acquisition in swimming, age-appropriate teaching strategies, water safety frameworks, and inclusive programming
- Experience with instructor recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
- Knowledge of compliance requirements including aquatic supervision ratios, emergency action planning, and child safety legislation
- Budget management and program forecasting experience
- Current industry certifications (e.g., Swim Teacher, CPR, First Aid, Working with Children Check)
