Description

With a picturesque base at Brunswick St Oval, the Edinburgh Cricket Club vision is to be a leading provider of women’s cricket in inner northern Melbourne.  To take the next step we are looking for an enthusiastic new coach who wants to develop the team, the individual players and themselves, and to be a key leader in growing women’s cricket at our club and in the region.

Edinburgh is one of Victoria’s leading and largest community clubs, with 10 senior and 30 junior sides (including a rapidly growing 4 junior girls’ teams).  One of our proudest achievements is the development to date of our senior women’s team.  We’ve had a senior women’s team for more than 25 years, one of the longest standing clubs in women’s community cricket and having won multiple premierships.  We strive to be an inclusive club that provides cricket for everyone.

Are you our right coach?

  • Our ideal coach will have played sport at a competitive level and have a real passion for developing the game - particularly for women and girls.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills are vital along with a proactive attitude.
  • Coaching skills and interest in developing a diversity of players including: competitive and social cricketers, juniors entering seniors and adults new to cricket.
  • Ability to develop skills and game awareness with a group of diverse skill backgrounds.
  • Track record in coaching. Coaching qualifications would be an advantage, but the club is prepared to assist the right candidate in getting the accreditation.

Prospective playing and non-playing coaches are all encouraged to apply.

We think this is a great opportunity to take a club with a history of women’s cricket, a dedicated core group and one of the largest, most talented, junior girls’ programs in Australia and build a thriving whole of club pathway for women and girls.

Brunswick St Oval has a turf pitch, and we are focused on providing great experiences for our existing senior group, new players and a pathway into seniors for our growing junior girls numbers.  The coach will also be expected to participate and assist in building our junior girls’ programs.

The coach will be ably supported by the Director of Cricket, assistant coaches and our broader club coaching support. Our Committee, volunteers and community are passionate about women’s sport and you’ll be genuinely supported on and off the field.

The club see this as one its most critical roles and remuneration and length of contract will be negotiated accordingly with the candidate.
