Description

Greg Inglis' Goanna Academy is an Indigenous-owned mental health education provider on a bold mission to break the stigma surrounding mental health and improve outcomes for all Australians. We are deeply committed to educating, celebrating, and reflecting the full diversity of the community we serve.

Our vision is to foster resilient communities and equitable outcomes through mental health and wellbeing programs for youth, regional males, and high-risk populations. By providing access to preventative programs - including school wellbeing initiatives and on-country clinics - we empower Australians to take control of their mental health journey.

The Role: Who You Are

We are looking for a highly motivated, relatable Facilitator to be the face of Goanna Academy on the ground alongside our current team of ambassadors. As a dedicated team player, you aren’t just a presenter; you are a mentor who can walk into a room of Year 5-12 students - including those displaying challenging or disengaged behaviours, and earn their respect and trust as a Goanna Academy representative.

This role is for you if:

  • You are a team player with a can-do attitude - no task is too small, and no road trip is too far.
  • You are highly organised and can manage your schedule, and stay one step ahead of the program.
  • You have the resilience and empathy to work with kids who may be doing it tough, staying  “firm but fair” and grounded under pressure.
  • You are mission-driven and passionate about Indigenous mental health and community wellbeing.

  • Cultural Safety: Ensure all sessions are inclusive, engaging, and adhere to the highest cultural safety standards.

Operations & Self-Management

  • Logistics & Prep: Own your schedule. Coordinate the preparation and distribution of program materials and manage your own travel and work preparation timelines.
  • Administration: Maintain accurate records, collect survey data, and assist in reporting to ensure we are hitting our impact targets.
  • Reliability: Arrive prepared and on time, every time, representing the Academy with professional pride and a positive attitude.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

  • Relationship Building: Liaise with schools and local health services to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Team Ethos: Collaborate closely with the Programme Manager and Ambassadors, contributing to a positive, ego-free team culture.

Skills, Attributes & Experience

  • The Connection Factor: Proven ability to connect with young people in a way that is authentic and impactful.

  • Organisation: Strong time-management skills and the ability to maintain high standards under time pressure.
  • Contextual Knowledge: Understanding of the mental health landscape and the unique issues facing regional and remote areas.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years in program facilitation, youth work, education, or community programs or services.
