The Role

Do you love social sports and know how to officiate sporting events or games? Are you looking for a casual position that offers flexible evening hours? The Town of Port Hedland is looking for Casual Umpires to join our Leisure Team!

Within the role you will be responsible for assisting in the promotion and delivery of the Port Hedland Leisure Social Sport competition while consistently delivering a high standard of customer service to all participants.

We would love to hear from you if you are passionate and experienced in the following social sports:

  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Futsal

If you're also interested in the sport of Pickleball (or learning more about this), there's also the opportunity to get involved in supporting with the scoring for these games!

Please note this position involves working on weekday evenings.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment, as well as possess:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the rules and bylaws of your preferred social sport
  • National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Working with Children Card
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • Umpiring qualifications are desirable but not essential

Essential Requirements

  • First Aid Certificate
  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check

Desirable Criteria

  • Umpiring qualifications
