Williamstown Football Club (WFC) is now accepting applications to join our 2026 VFLW team as Assistant Coach and Head of Development to support our elite program throughout the upcoming season.
This role entails the following duties within the Club:
Assistant Coach
Pre-Season
- Attend all training sessions (including camps and addition sessions where applicable) held by the Club as required.
- Assist the Senior Coach with training drills as required.
- Liaise with the Senior Coach regarding the specific skill acquisition of players and help create and implement development programs for these players.
- Show relevant match vision as required.
- Provide support to the Senior Coach as required.
In-Season
- Attend all training sessions (and additional sessions) held by the Club as required.
- Attend all games as required.
- Provide weekly feedback to the Senior Coach on individual player performance.
- Review weekly footage using Sportscode and cut individual edits for players using broadcast and behind-the-goals vision.
- Liaise with the Senior Coach regarding the specific skill acquisition of players and help create and implement development programs for these players.
- Provide support to the Senior Coach as required.
Head of Development
- Lead the Club’s player development strategy across the VFLW and Development programs.
- Manage the Development Coach and collaborate closely with the Senior and High-Performance staff.
- Oversee individual player development plans, ensuring measurable progression and alignment with team objectives.
- Facilitate player reviews and feedback sessions throughout the season.
- Identify emerging talent and contribute to list management and recruitment discussions.
- Champion a strong development culture built on growth, accountability, and professionalism.
Hours of Work
- The women’s Assistant and Development Coach will be required to attend all weekly training sessions plus game day and additional sessions or camps.
- Attend local matches to view VFLW-listed players when fixtures permit
(where available) - Attend all Club functions.
- Attend all coaching staff meetings as required.
About you:
To be considered for the role, you must have:
- Minimum Level 2 AFL Senior accreditation or ability to obtain
- Working with Children Check
- Experience with using specific programs (ie. Sportscode)
