The Position:

We are looking for passionate and energetic Swimming Instructors to join our highly regarded Aquatics Team. You will report directly to the Aquatics Coordinator and work collaboratively with a team of Swimming Instructors, to ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe and responsible manner. This is a casual role with shifts available on Monday / Wednesday / Thursday 3.15-5.30pm and Saturday 8.15-10.30am.  Pay rate $39 per hour.

Key tasks & responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver high quality, professional, safe and engaging instruction to participants in the Learn to Swim program
  • Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all students and user groups at the Barry Centre and always maintain high quality surveillance and instructional techniques in and around the water
  • Promote and implement water safety principles in all lessons and activities
  • Teach foundational swimming skills appropriate to participant age and ability
  • Introduction to and instruction of swimming strokes
  • Prepare Lesson Plans with clear learning intentions and deliverables
  • Provide feedback about individual student progression, when requested supporting continuous improvement and confidence in the water
  • Demonstrate a team orientated and professional approach to all responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by ensuring regular, proactive feedback to students and families and striving to maintain an optimum learning experience

About You:

To be considered for this position, it is essential that you have:

  • AUSTSWIM - Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Accreditation or equivalent
  • Working with Children’s Check (employee status)
  • Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certification
  • 18+ years of age
  • Strong communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills 
  • Display a high level of self-awareness and the ability to maintain positive relationships
