The Marketing and Media Manager is responsible for enhancing Sunshine Coast Lightning’s brand reputation, awareness and consideration through innovative and proactive content planning and execution. Specifically, the role will be responsible for managing all Club content and communications across Sunshine Coast Lightning’s digital and marketing platforms including social media channels, website and e-communications. Working as part of the Marketing team, planning and collaboration skills are key.
The scope reflects a need for storytelling and influence that supports the commercial growth initiatives and to continue to build Sunshine Coast Lightning’s reputation as one of the leading sporting teams in Australia.
The Marketing and Media Manager will oversee the team, including three direct reports responsible for all creative production and content creation.
Key Responsibilities
Digital & Media Content
- Develop and manage an innovative, creative and first-class digital content strategy for the Club to drive engagement, viewership and brand consideration to support the overall commercial objectives.
- Grow and enhance Sunshine Coast Lightning’s brand and audience through a variety of channels including digital and traditional media with a significant focus on audience growth across owned digital channels.
- Manage and champion the daily administration of all Club digital platforms including website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok and other emerging platforms.
- Collaborate with a Graphic Designer and Videographer to create exciting and innovative content.
- Be creative and demonstrate the ability to think outside the square to attract, engage and retain members, fans and other stakeholders in the digital space.
- Support the delivery of sponsorship rights and benefits with a focus on digital content.
- Collate, report and analyse all digital stats including social and website analytics.
- Review and monitor digital offerings to provide insights and opportunities to the commercial team for Club sponsors.
- Use analytics to drive ideas and innovation across Club digital platforms with a focus on constantly engaging our fans, Members, and corporate partners in and out of season – increasing visitors across all digital platforms.
Media, Communications & PR
- Manage the Club’s overall communications style, brand tone and language, including copywriting across all platforms.
- Develop, maintain and manage relationships with a wide range of media partners, players and coaches.
- Develop and generate well-crafted written content for website and other social media platforms.
- Develop and implement PR campaigns across a broad range of media formats including sourcing and developing news concepts and content for media.
- Prepare and issue Club media releases, alerts, news updates and statements and manage Club media conferences and interviews.
- Be the point of contact for all media enquiries and respond to requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop and manage all major Club announcements including commercial partnerships, players, coaches and other Club developments.
- Provide briefings/education to players and netball department in relation to key messaging to ensure consistent public approach.
- Manage media monitoring and reporting.
- Drive media exposure of the Club internationally, nationally and locally, with a focus on providing innovative stories and content (including Club and SSN media partners).
- Assist CEO, COO, Commercial team & the broader Club with developing corporate communications.
- Champion internal communications within the Club.
Marketing & Campaigns
- Develop the Club's annual marketing strategy.
- Work with and support the Marketing Coordinator in executing the overall marketing strategy and event specific marketing and campaign plans.
- Manage Club brand marketing processes and systems to ensure content is on-brand and aligns with overall Club look and feel.
- Manage the Club’s Graphic Designer and the graphic requirements requested by the wider business.
- Develop and implement with the support of the Marketing Coordinator tactical marketing initiatives to support long-term increase in customer engagement, loyalty and deliver annual revenue budgets.
Game Day
- Tell the story of game day on the Club's social media channels for both home and away matches.
- Work with a videographer to plan and obtain content from Game Days.
- Manage all match day media and broadcast requests at home and away matches.
Leadership
- Take a proactive role in fostering a positive, innovative and high-performing culture within the Club.
- Lead, drive and support direct reports to deliver on KPIs, revenue targets and growth objectives for the Club.
- Drive the execution of strategic and operational accountabilities of the content, digital and marketing team.
- Provide effective leadership, guidance and support to all direct reports through the delivery of effective coaching and quality conversations to grow and empower them.
