NSW Athletics is experiencing continued growth in participation and competition delivery, supported by a more aligned and contemporary operating model across the sport. As competition volume and complexity continue to increase, NSW Athletics is strengthening its technical capability to ensure events are delivered consistently, fairly, and in line with national and international standards.
We are now seeking a knowledgeable and detail-focused Technical Coordinator to provide specialist technical oversight and advice across NSW Athletics competitions.
This is a part-time role, suited to an experienced athletics practitioner looking to contribute high-level expertise in a flexible and focused capacity.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager – Sport Delivery, the Technical Coordinator is responsible for supporting the technical design and integrity of NSW Athletics competitions.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Application and interpretation of athletics competition rules and technical standards
- Development, review, and refinement of athlete-centred and operationally sound event timetables
- Providing specialist technical advice to support competition planning and delivery
- Working collaboratively with Sport Delivery staff, officials, and technology teams
The role does not include people management responsibilities and is designed to complement existing operational and competition management functions.
About You
You bring strong technical knowledge of athletics competitions and a practical understanding of how events are designed and delivered. You will ideally have:
- Experience applying athletics rules and technical standards at club, zone, regional, or state level
- Experience developing or reviewing competition timetables or event specifications
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to balance technical compliance with athlete experience
- The ability to work collaboratively with staff, officials, and volunteers
Experience with Australian Athletics, Little Athletics, or World Athletics frameworks, and familiarity with systems such as Meet Manager or AthleticLIVE, will be highly regarded.
Why Join NSW Athletics?
This is an opportunity to contribute to the quality and integrity of athletics competition in NSW without the demands of a full-time management role. You will work alongside a committed and experienced Sport Delivery team, with the flexibility to balance this role with other professional or personal commitments.
Your expertise will directly influence athlete experience, competition fairness, and the ongoing improvement of event delivery across the state.
