Description

Flyers Swim Club is seeking an experienced, motivated and values-driven Head Coach to lead our performance program and support the continued growth of our club.

This is a key leadership role responsible for athlete development, coaching excellence, and fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performance club culture. Flyers Swim Club services swimmers across the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region and is committed to providing clear pathways from junior development through to State, National and International representation.

About the Role

The Head Coach will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of structured, periodised training programs
  • Develop athletes across all levels, with a focus on long-term performance outcomes
  • Foster a safe, positive and athlete-centred training environment
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and support to assistant coaches
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Committee to support club growth and sustainability
  • Represent Flyers Swim Club professionally at competitions and events

This role offers a high degree of autonomy, supported by a committed and engaged committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily on-deck coaching and session planning
  • Athlete pathway and performance development
  • Competition planning and meet attendance (including weekends and interstate events)
  • Coach mentoring and staff coordination
  • Communication with athletes, parents and stakeholders
  • Monthly reporting against agreed KPIs
  • Budget planning and expense management related to competitions and travel
  • Compliance with child safety, safeguarding and governance requirements

About You

You will be:

  • A passionate and professional swimming coach with strong leadership skills
  • Committed to athlete wellbeing, safety and development
  • An excellent communicator who values collaboration and transparency
  • Motivated to contribute to long-term club growth and culture

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Bronze Licence with all requirements completed for Silver Licence (pending swimmer achievement), or fully Silver Licensed Coach
  • Minimum 5 years coaching experience
  • Experience as an Assistant Head Coach (minimum)
  • Personal athlete experience to Australian National Age or National Open level
  • Proven ability to coach athletes toward State and National qualifying standards
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Strong understanding of contemporary coaching practices and sports science principles

Interstate or International Team Coaching/Management experience is highly regarded.
