Northern Suburbs Basketball Association Inc (Norths Basketball) is a community-based not-for-profit sporting association with a North Shore history extending over forty years. With over 5,000 registered playing members and an award winning management team, the association aims to build a community renowned for its sportsmanship providing opportunities for everyone to participate in basketball.
Our team gives us their most precious possession every single day, their time. Our respect for that value exchange is what we count on to keep everyone inspired and happy. The role
Full-time with flexibility to attend junior representative games on Sundays
Create and embed the Norths way of developing players through confident coaches strong in the fundamentals. This role sets the philosophy, curriculum and coaching standards that consistently raise player skill, confidence and game understanding, from first touch through to representative basketball.
Beyond performance, this role owns the experience of basketball at Norths, leading creative, engaging approaches to coaching and program design that make players, families and coaches want to come back again and again.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Norths’ High Performance and Development program plans
- Ensure all aspects of the Norths Bears representative program are delivered with operational excellence, including coach recruitment and development, trials and selections, training and games, to maintain the standards and expectations of the Norths Rep Program Philosophy.
- Lead the Development program (after schools and holiday camps) to deliver an experience tailored to a variety of age groups and skills levels, including program curriculum.
- Develop a coaching framework and provide leadership to Norths coaches across high performance and development, including upskilling, goal setting, workshops and clinics.
Who we are looking for
- You are a natural leader of people who is able to bring the community together
- You have depth of experience in developing basketball programs and curriculum
- You’re known for being approachable, collaborative, empathetic and good with people
- Your communication is exceptional, both verbally and written
- You’re willing to work hard and understand it's not a typical 9-5 job
- You are experienced in leading teams and employees (full-time and casual)
- You are happy to jump on the court to coach, be it for the K-2 after school program or U18 JPL team
- Ideally, you have a minimum Level 2 Association Coach Accreditation
