Description

The Hockey Victoria Competitions Manager is responsible for the successful overall management and delivery of all Hockey Victoria’s (HV) indoor and outdoor hockey competitions.

Broadly speaking, Hockey Victoria provide a variety of competition structures for Juniors, Seniors, Masters, Social, Summer and Indoor players, to provide year-round access to the sport of hockey for the Victorian community.

The Competitions Manager is responsible for the ongoing management and timely communication of competitions calendar (including calendar, fixtures), structures, rules and regulations, and officiating for all club-based competitions.

The management of HV competitions incorporates ongoing facility evaluations, the competition administration on the RevSport system, including the management of fixtures and results reporting process, and the administration of all match related investigations & disciplinary matters

HOCKEY VICTORIA COMPETITIONS MANAGEMENT:

  • Management of HV’s competitions team, including budget management, management of staff, and ensuring the smooth day to day running of the team 
  • In accordance with specific timelines and on an ongoing basis, manage and oversee the creation of competition fixtures for all HV competitions, including the officiating rosters
  • Management and delivery of the Grand Final series for the Winter Competition
  • Review all HV competitions regularly including annual gradings of the junior, senior and masters competitions
  • Manage the Rules and Regulations review on an annual basis
  • Manage player eligibility and administrative obligations by timely application of practical, sensible and equitable competition rules and by laws
  • Manage competition results and ladders on RevSport, including upload and distribution, including administering of related club fines
  • Manage and oversee the application of HV Judicial System across all competitions
  • In accordance with the rules and regulations, manage all competition related communications with HV affiliates
  • Maintain HV website and specific databases for all competitions related information, to ensure accurate and accessible information is available to HV stakeholders
  • Manage all Melbourne Sports Centres - Parkville bookings for the purpose of relevant competitions
  • Where required, co-ordinate the inspection of all hockey venues in advance of the commencement of all competitions
  • Lead the strategic promotion of HV competitions via available social media platforms.

INDOOR COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS:

  • Oversee the delivery of the Indoor Hockey Club Championships and Competitions operations, budget and staff & volunteers in conjunction with the Competitions Coordinator

OVERSIGHT OF UMPIRE AND TECHNICAL OFFICERS APPOINTMENTS:

  • Oversee the appointments of umpires and Technical Officers for all relevant competitions.
  • In collaboration with events staff oversee the appointments of umpires and Technical Officers for all Indoor hockey & events.
  • Oversee the umpire grading system
  • In collaboration with the Events Manager, contribute to umpire and Technical Officers pathway and development.  

OTHER: 

  • Prepare Competitions Budget, and monitor and provide up to date financial details to relevant HV staff.
  • Liaise with General Manager – Events and Commercial as required.
  • Other matters as may be delegated from time to time by the Chief Executive Officer or General Manager Hockey Operations 
  • Ensure appropriate media plans are in place for all relevant competitions, and all social media requirements are met.
  • Liaise with a range of HV Advisory Groups/Committees
  • Act as HV’s representative for RevSport competition management database system.
