Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Content Producer will be responsible for the development, execution and reporting of targeted digital campaigns across our digital platforms, telling the stories of our 350 Affiliated Clubs and 140 Discover Sailing Centers.
This will be achieved by the creation and distribution of engaging content designed to support Clubs, Class Associations, participation programs, Australian Sailing (AS) events and member services to grow participation in the sport.
Principle Accountabilities
Content Strategy & Planning
Contribute to the development of, and execute, AS’s digital content strategy across owned channels.
Collaborate with the Head of Marketing and Communications to build an annual content calendar aligned to major events, campaign, partners deliverables and strategic priorities.
Ensure consistent messaging across all AS brands and channels
Content Production
Capture and edit high-quality video and photography, managing end-to-end production
Highlight core AS assets including;
Discover Sailing
SheSails
Australian Sailing Team
Key Australian sailing community activities
Australian Sailing events, such as Sail Melbourne, Sail Sydney, Sail Brisbane, Zhik YouthSail series, Australian Sailing Awards, Australian Sailing Hall of Fame, Sailing Summits
Work with AS partners to produce relevant integrated digital content
Produce real-time event coverage and behind-the-scenes storytelling
Manage digital assets and maintain secure, organised archives
Produce a small “highlights” collection of images for each asset for easy access and use by the broader AS team
Social Media and Brand Engagement:
Work with AS Affiliated Clubs and Discover Sailing Centres to tell their stories and drive participation and membership
Drive social media presence with trending and on-brand content
Grow engagement and reach through proactive content production
Align and integrate sponsor and commercial partners through digital activations
On-Site Engagement:
Attend all Domestic Events and, in collaboration with the Head of Marketing and Communications, will develop event-specific content plans.
Programs
Execute a calendar of activity to encourage participation across identified targeted audiences
Identify opportunities to cross promote participation with other AS activities
Ensure current photo and video content for participation programs is stored within the AS library
Planning and Reporting
Review performance metrics and assist with campaign reporting and analysis to develop and implement new audience engagement tactics
Track and report on all AS site metrics
Regularly report on social media metrics and activities and offer suggestions on opportunities to ensure strong engagement
Attributes
Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
Demonstrated experience in digital content creation—especially video and photography.
Hands-on experience with camera gear, lighting, and audio equipment.
Previous work in content calendar management, partnership deliverables, and high-pressure event coverage is desirable.
Logistical Readiness:
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are preferred
Must have experience working with children.
Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
Working with Children Check (or equivalent)
Working knowledge of the Australian sport system
Knowledge & Skills
Creative Capability:
Strong storytelling instincts with an ability to translate vision into impactful content.
A passion for sport and visual storytelling that energises brand narratives.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or appropriate editing software.
Familiarity with Photoshop, Canva, After Effects, and Lightroom would be highly regarded.
Digital and Social Media Knowledge:
Deep understanding of content formats and trends across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
Demonstrated ability to keep up to date with Social Media and digital trends, with in-depth knowledge of how it can be leveraged to drive increased engagement and viewership metrics.
Professional Skills:
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
Strong collaboration and communication skills to liaise with athletes, coaches, staff, and stakeholders.
