The Brisbane Lions are seeking to appoint a Physiotherapist to join our High-Performance Team. The role will be based at our world class elite sport performance facility, Brighton Homes Arena, and will have interstate travel requirements throughout the AFL season.
This is a full-time 2-year contract role reporting to our Head Physiotherapist and will be responsible for ensuring our players in our AFL program are kept in optional physical condition, while driving best practice programs that assist in maintaining the elite standards of our team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Manage and provide daily assessments to ensure early diagnosis and injury-prevention
- Provide treatment and rehabilitation plans ensuring the overall health of the team
- Facilitate the return to full performance of players post injury or illness in conjunction with the extended High-Performance team
- Assist with on-field injury management and coordinate any required emergency response procedures
- Provide regular updates to the High-Performance Manager, Head Physiotherapist and Club Doctor
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Post graduate qualifications in sport physiotherapy highly regarded
- Current APHPRA registration
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Previous experience in AFL or elite sporting environment – preferably in contact sports
- Previous experience working with athlete management systems desirable
- Demonstrated musculoskeletal assessment, therapy and rehabilitation skills
- Strong communication skills - written, verbal and listening
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Demonstrated understanding of medical privacy and confidentiality
Due to the nature of our business, the ideal candidate must be available to work odd hours, including weekends, in addition to travel requirements.
