Reports To: Head of Analytics & Strategy
Term: 12 month fixed term, with the possibility of continuation
Starts: Early 2026
Hours: Full time, open to considering part-time (includes weekend game days) 

Reporting to the Head of Analytics & Strategy, the Football Analyst is responsible for delivering key functions across Football Analysis, Match Day & Training Support, Collaboration & Reporting, Continuous Development & Process Improvement, and Innovation in the Field.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner with coaches and analysts to translate gameplan language and scenarios into clear, data-driven insights.
  • Develop analysis methods, reports, and feedback systems aligned to the club’s strategy and gameplan principles.
  • Prepare and present content for team reviews and planning sessions, ensuring clarity and relevance.
  • Manage technology during coach presentations (e.g., Keynote) and support communication of insights.

Match Day & Training Support

  • Set up and manage match-day technology, delivering real-time data and insights to coaches on the bench and in the box.
  • Capture, organise, and analyse training content to provide coaches with accurate footage and performance metrics.
  • Oversee IT and analysis infrastructure to ensure smooth delivery of match and training data.
  • Support efficient dissemination of real-time insights throughout the football department.

Football Analysis

  • Provide high-quality performance analysis to support coaching strategy and player development.
  • Lead collection, interpretation, and presentation of key performance data across matches and training.
  • Integrate Sportscode/Hudl tools and data visualisation platforms to enhance analysis capability.
  • Maintain and improve the club’s video and data systems for accurate, real-time capture.

Innovation in the Field

  • Apply emerging technologies, analytics, and data science to improve decision-making and performance.
  • Explore and adopt innovative methodologies from other sports to strengthen competitive advantage.
  • Research and test new tools, including AI, machine learning, and automation, to advance analysis quality.
  • Lead implementation of platforms that integrate data, video, and performance metrics into cohesive systems.

Continuous Development & Process Improvement

  • Support implementation of technology-driven analysis solutions across the football department.
  • Drive improvements in analysis workflows, ensuring best-practice standards in data collection and reporting.
  • Contribute to development of new methodologies that enhance performance analysis processes.
  • Represent the club in industry forums and PD opportunities to remain current on AFL and analysis trends.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Proficiency with Hudl Sportscode
  • Expert technical knowledge of Australian Rules Football

What an elite candidate will also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in a sports-related field
