Who are we?
The Bendigo Stadium (Red Energy Arena) is the home of the Bendigo Braves (Senior and Junior elite Basketball teams), the Bendigo Spirit (Women’s National Basketball League team), the Bendigo Strikers (State Netball League) and the Phantoms Volleyball Club (State Volleyball League).
Our Stadium provides a state-of-the-art facility, including a 4000 seat show court arena, ten (10) basketball courts, licensed bistro and café bar, and premier function spaces for all events. The venue hosts 15,000 patrons per week.
Bendigo Stadium are seeking expressions of interest from an experienced and enthusiastic coach who has the passion to be the Head Coach of the Bendigo Braves Senior Men’s NBL1 team for the 2026 & 2027 seasons.
About the role:
The Head Coach will lead and elevate the senior men’s program in the NBL1, Australia's premier winter basketball competition. The successful applicant will work closely with our Head of Basketball Performance/Experience positions, and Big V Youth League Head Coach.
In partnership with key stakeholders, the role is to deliver the strategic objectives of the Senior Men’s program, with a strong connection to our local Bendigo community.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the Bendigo Braves men’s team in line with a modern playing style and club philosophy.
- Build a positive, professional, and enjoyable team environment.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Basketball Performance (HOBP) to recruit, retain and develop athletes.
- Contribute to strengthening the club’s pathway toward NBL-level standards and relationships.
- Deliver high-quality training sessions focused on competitiveness, skill development and execution.
- Implement a game plan and system that style player strengths.
- Foster a strong team culture with high expectations around behaviour and professionalism.
- Ensure players understand roles, concepts and development expectations.
- Represent the Braves professionally within the basketball community.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven coaching experience at NBL1, professional, collegiate or equivalent high-performance levels.
- Strong understanding of modern basketball concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and build positive culture.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to player development and standards.
- Alignment with the club’s vision for stronger pathways and increasing professionalism.
This is a two year (2 seasons) fixed term contract.
A Police Check and Working with Children’s Check is required.
