Description

WAIS is seeking a dedicated Sports Dietitian – Lead to join our team. In this role, you will oversee practitioners to deliver Sports Dietetics operational priorities in support of strategic goals and ensure exceptional high-performance standards within their discipline across the organisation. As a sports dietitian, the Lead supports athletes in assigned programs to achieve nutrition-based performance goals aligned with program objectives. They also ensure athletes' wellbeing in high-performance sports by managing nutrition-based health risks.

This position is a full time, 37.5 hours per week and maximum term until December 2028, with the potential to extend.

Role Overview:

In this role your key areas of responsibility would include:

  • Line managing support discipline staff and driving the delivery of operational priorities and practice standards within a Win Well ethos.
  • Liaising with senior Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and National Institutes Network (NIN) discipline Leads on discipline-specific matters.
  • Deliver evidence-based, nutritional interventions that support athletes to achieve the performance standards for Pinnacle Event podium finishes and/or senior team graduation, per program objectives.
  • Assess and monitor athletes for nutrition-based risks, including risks of disordered eating and eating disorders, triaging support through the Mental Health Referral Network where required.
  • Collaborate within interdisciplinary support teams to ensure impactful, holistic athlete support.
  • Supervise and support dietetics students and research projects as required.

About you:

  • You will have the following minimum credentials:
    • Tertiary qualification in Dietetics
    • Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) with Dietitians Australia 
    • Accredited Sports Dietitian (ASD) with Sports Dietitians Australia 
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in providing sports dietitian support in a sporting environment.
  • Ability to lead high-performance teams by clarifying priorities, solving problems through constructive debate, and applying lessons for future success.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in high-performance, interdisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to work and deliver high-performance results under pressure.
  • Proven skills in engaging others to adopt ideas and commit to actions, educating athletes and parents for high-performance behaviour change.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve challenging goals by fostering a positive environment, encouraging growth, and empowering staff.
  • Above all else, you are a genuine team player that cares about others and always acts with kindness and integrity.
