Position Overview:
Keilor Thunder Basketball Club is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Girls Coaches Coordinator to join our team. This role will involve working closely with the High-Performance Manager to support, develop, and guide our girls' basketball coaches and teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in observing team performances, identifying areas for improvement, and providing constructive feedback to ensure our teams and coaches reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Coach Development:
- Collaborate with the High-Performance Manager to create and implement coach development programs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to girls' coaches, ensuring they have the necessary tools and support to succeed in their roles.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement for both coaches and players.
Observing Training and Games:
- Attend team trainings and games regularly to observe coach performance, team dynamics, and player development.
- Offer constructive feedback to coaches on session plans, team management, and individual player skills.
- Identify areas of improvement for both coaches and players, delivering actionable recommendations to help elevate performance.
Performance Feedback:
- Provide timely, actionable feedback to coaches on both strengths and areas requiring improvement, with a focus on driving high standards of coaching practice.
- Assist coaches in adapting strategies and techniques based on observations, with the goal of achieving optimal team performance.
Game Night & Training Availability:
- Be available to observe games on Friday nights, providing valuable feedback and support to coaches during match play.
- Attend team trainings during the week, working closely with the coaching staff to ensure alignment with team development objectives.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Maintain open communication with the High-Performance Manager to discuss ongoing coach and team development.
- Collaborate with other coaching coordinators and staff to ensure consistency in coaching practices across the club.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Managing and responding to any parent or stakeholder grievances in a timely and professional manner
- Communicating through multiple channels, including email correspondence and in-person discussions or meetings, to address concerns and provide updates.
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive issues.
- Fostering positive relationships between players, parents, coaches, and the wider school or club community.
Tryouts and Coach Engagement
- Supporting the selection process to ensure fairness, transparency, and alignment with program goals.
- Engaging and collaborating with coaches throughout the season to ensure smooth coordination, consistent messaging, and a positive team environment.
- Providing logistical and administrative assistance to coaches as required
- Help the High-Performance Manager to headhunt suitable coach candidates for the next season

Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience in basketball coaching, with a strong understanding of coaching methodologies and team development.
- Previous experience in a coaching coordinator or leadership role is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to analyse game footage and training sessions, identifying key areas for improvement.
- Passion for developing young athletes and coaches, with a focus on long-term player development.
- Availability to attend games on Friday nights and training sessions during the week.
