About the role

The National Development Squad (NDS) Physical Performance Coach with be responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring of individualised strength and conditioning programs for NDS selected players, as will be the coordination of relevant ancillary sport science support. Additionally, the NDS Physical Performance Coach will create group based strength and conditioning programs for all Zone squad selected players to be administered by the Zone squad coach. Effective communication with all key stakeholders involved in delivering programs to both National Development and Zone Squad players is an essential requirement of this position.

In this role you will:

  • Implement comprehensive physical profiling strategies to identify key physical/athletic developmental priorities.
  • Design appropriate, individualised strength and conditioning programs for all athletes, including, but not limited to, strength and power development, speed development, agility, coordination and movement skills, conditioning and injury prevention/rehabilitation.
  • Work closely with the Zone Squad coaches to empower them to administer the programs to their Zone Squad players.
  • Manage collation of current and relevant strength and conditioning and physical profiling/management information within TA's Athlete Database system.
  • Participate in relevant athlete and parent education forums.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Sports Science, Human Movement and/or equivalent degree (essential).
  • Previous experience in the provision of strength and conditioning services across a range of sports which includes national teams and their athletes.
  • High level interpersonal skills to effectively develop and maintain partnerships, networks and stakeholder relationships.
  • Sound information technology knowledge, high computer literacy and experience in using web
    environments to research and gather data.
  • Knowledge of tennis science and medicine, rules and the sport's anti-doping code.
  • A current Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain).
  • A preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia.
