Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Spiders is a Basketball Association based in Sydney's Upper North Shore. Catering to over 6,500 members, the Association offers a variety of basketball programs to players of all ages and abilities. We are seeking two passionate and experienced Head Coaches to lead our teams in the Waratah Women’s League and the Waratah Youth League (Women’s Division) for the 2026 season.
These are distinct leadership roles offering the opportunity to shape elite basketball programs, mentor talent, and contribute to the growth of women’s basketball in our community.
Position 1: Head Coach – Waratah Women’s League
Lead our senior women’s team in NSW’s premier basketball competition. You’ll drive high-performance coaching, strategic planning, and foster a winning culture that reflects the Spiders’ legacy. We are expecting to be one of the only Sydney based Women's Waratah teams for 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs and game strategies
- Manage team selection, performance, and development
- Collaborate with club staff and support personnel
- Represent the team at league events and media engagements
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience coaching at senior or representative level
- Basketball Australia accreditation (Level 2 preferred)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Commitment to athlete welfare and team success
Position 2: Head Coach – Waratah Youth League (Women’s Division)
Guide our youth women’s team in a competitive development league. This role focuses on nurturing younger athletes, building a strong team culture, and continuing the elite pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Design training and development plans
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-focused environment
- Mentor athletes on and off the court
- Work closely with junior development staff and club leadership
Ideal Candidate
- Experience coaching youth or junior representative teams
- Basketball Australia accreditation (Level 1 minimum)
- Passion for youth development and female participation
- Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills
Season Timeline & Locations
- Pre-season begins end 2025.
- Competitive season runs March–August 2026.
- We are based in the Horsnby Ku-Ring-Gai area, training and home games will be played in this area.
- Travel and days/weekends away are expected for these positions based on the teams in the leagues during the season.
