Following skateboarding’s Olympic debut in Tokyo, Skate Australia has taken the lead in delivering the Skateboarding High Performance Program. Backed by the Australian Sports Commission, Australian Institute of Sport, and State Institutes and Academies, we’re building a world-class, sustainable high-performance system aimed at Olympic and World Skate success.

With a clear focus on Brisbane 2032, our 2024 High Performance System Review is shaping the next chapter of growth, guided by the national Win Well Strategy. We are seeking a Park Skateboarding Development Coach to lead the development and delivery of Skate Australia’s national pre-categorised pathways program for Park Skateboarding. This pivotal role ensures athletes and coaches are supported to progress within the high-performance system. Working closely with the National Technical Lead, you will contribute to the design and management of domestic and international competitions, camps, and athlete categorisation processes, while providing direct coaching support where required.

This is a part time (2.5 days per week) fixed term contract until 31 December 2028 and location of this role is flexible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage the national pre-categorised pathways program for Park Skateboarding, ensuring effective support structures are in place.
  • Collaborate with the National Technical Lead to deliver domestic competitions and camps.
  • Identify, develop, and support community coaches both on the ground and remotely.
  • Provide coaching services and support for pre-categorised and categorised athletes in their DTE, at camps, and/or competitions.
  • Assist with categorisation and competition selection processes as directed.
  • Support efforts to build a stronger culture and enhance athlete learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to ongoing projects and other activities as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience as an athlete at a competitive level in Park/Vert Skateboarding.
  • Experience coaching athletes at various levels in Park/Vert Skateboarding.
  • Demonstrated experience managing logistics for camps, competitions, international tours, and events.
  • Proven contribution to positive team culture and athlete wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with integrity, anti-doping, and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Experience engaging with athletes and families in performance or development contexts (highly regarded).

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Coaching, or related field (desirable), or equivalent industry experience.
  • National Police / Criminal History Check.
  • Working with Children / Vulnerable People Check.
  • Australian citizen, permanent resident, or visa permitting work in Australia.
  • Valid driver’s licence and passport.
