Casey Demons Football Club is an aligned Club with the Melbourne Football Club and seen as an integral part of player development of MFC players and a great environment for the development of VFL listed players.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The club is seeking to appoint a VFL Club Doctor to join our VFL Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the medical team with an oversight of our VFL program.

You will be responsible for ensuring all players selected to play for the Casey Demons Football Club are medically fit to train and compete, with duties including medical support at training sessions, game days, and supporting the wider football programs.

This is a part-time, maximum term contract, commencing in November 2025.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting directly to the AFL Head Doctor, the key areas of responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing VFL medical program and providing sports and general medicine support as required
  • Perform details assessments and acute injury management
  • Weekly player management to ensure optimal performance
  • Communication with key stakeholders within the VFL football department regarding player status
  • Attendance at one training per week in preseason and in season
  • Attendance at all VFL games (unless a replacement/fill in doctor is pre-arranged)
  • Ensure all medical records and player encounters are entered into MFC Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Liaison with the AFLW doctor post games regarding AFLW listed player injuries and issues
  • Attendance at VFL high performance, medical and welfare meeting as required
  • Managing concussions in line with AFL return to play management guidelines
  • Performing preseason concussion screening for all VFL main squad players
  • Utilising the SCORE app for input of concussion screening for AFLW listed players
  • Attending MFC concussion education as required and providing an end of season audit of all VFL concussions sustained

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You are a dedicated and a skilled AHPRA-registered medical professional, with experience supporting elite athletes. You understand the medical demands of high-performance sport and are ready to lead a high-quality medical program that prioritises athlete, health, safety and performance.

You are a collaborative leader, capable in working within multidisciplinary environments and can communicate, build trust, and form strong relationships with players, coaches, and staff.

You are available to work on match days and attend training sessions once per week in preseason and during the season.
