Overview:

As Head Coach, you will work closely with the team at Mackay Basketball to ensure you are equipped with the necessary information and tools to be able to put your best team on the floor. Our team will assist you in the administration and recruitment of players within the approved budget. Your leadership will be crucial in continuing the culture of togetherness and excellence within the Meteors program, both on and off the court.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in continuing and strengthening the connection between the NBL1 program and the Mackay Basketball Junior Representative Teams, ensuring a clear pathway for player development within our Association. This role also emphasises the importance of community engagement and maintaining a strong relationship with the broader Mackay Basketball community.

• Be driven and focused on culture and achieving success both on and off the court.
• Effective and transparent communication, leadership, and high level skills within a coaching and player development space.
• A deep understanding of the game of basketball and the willingness to always maintain a growth mindset. 
• Knowledge and experience in coaching basketball at the NBL1 level or high level basketball. 
• The commitment to building on a program that prioritises the development of local Mackay talent and fosters a clear pathway for high performing junior athletes. 
• The ability to oversee the Mackay U23 program as a feeder into NBL1 program. 
• Ability to continue to cultivate a professional culture that emphasises development, community involvement, pride and togetherness. 
• Highly organised, adaptable, and capable of working within the broader structure of Mackay Basketball.
