Swimming is Australia’s most successful Olympic and Paralympic sport and there has never been a more exciting time to join our High Performance team. With an eye on Brisbane 2032 and on the back of the success in Paris 2024 and the World Aquatics Swimming Championships 2025, our High Performance team is on the looking to add to the coaching ranks to support delivery on our ambitious goals within our high performance culture.

Based at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), this vital role will assist the UniSC Performance Program Head Coach with planning, coordinating and delivering all the functions of the UniSC Squad program while constantly striving to challenge the status quo in aspiring for World’s Best in the areas of training, science, medicine and athlete wellbeing. Importantly, we are looking for someone who is aligned with our values of Courage, Unity and Excellence and to deliver quality outcome in this Full-Time fixed term position through to 31 December 2028.

About the role:

Reporting to the UniSC Performance Program Head Coach, the principal duties of this role include:

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of an integrated training program for a targeted group of categorised and/or identified squad athletes
  • Work as part of the Performance Support Team to create a collaborative environment for ideas sharing and check and challenges - Coaching to Science to Coaching 
  • Support athletes at domestic and international camps and competitions as required
  • Ensure an international performance focus incorporating leading edge initiatives through consultation with the Daily Performance Team and Head Coach
  • Assist the UniSC Performance Program Head Coach and support staff with the delivery of best practice performance support services to athletes in the critical areas of Sport Science & Sport Medicine, Strength and Conditioning and Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement
  • Contribute to the Performance Culture of HP Swimming by way of Individual Athlete Performance Planning (IAPP) and Program Reporting

About you:

What you will bring to the role:

  • A minimum of 3+ years in an elite athlete coaching position or equivalent
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Elite Coaching and/or Sport Science or Medicine or equivalent (desirable)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international high performance best practice, including awareness of developing trends in coaching technique, skill development, program growth and long-term holistic development
  • An ability to convey messages clearly to build relationships based on mutual trust, cohesion, and team/squad dynamics
  • Swimming Australia Accredited Coach or international equivalent, a satisfactory working with children check and police/criminal record check
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, judgement and decision-making skills and the ability to use these skills effectively under pressure
