What is the Role?
As part of an energetic and enthusiastic team, work with the Sport & PDHPE departments to help to deliver our Secondary School Sports Program for the 2025-2026 season through basketball coaching. Coaches need to be available for midweek training and competition games on Saturdays.
Training after school (3:30pm - 5:00pm) is mostly held at Sydney University. Sydney University is also the home venue for competition, with away locations varying from week to week.
The 2025-2026 basketball season will commence with training and selections in late August and competition commencing in October. The basketball season ends in March 2025.
Who will the successful applicants be?
- You will be working at either the St Andrew’s House Campus (Sydney Town Hall), the Sydney University Sports and Aquatic Centre (and other venues as needed)
- We’re looking for you to bring specialist knowledge and experience as well as passion and enthusiasm to coach and mentor in a school sport environment
- Will ideally hold a minimum Club Coach accreditation in basketball and/or relevant experience in youth basketball
- We want coaches who are open to development through further accreditation and guidance from the Head Coach and senior coaching staff
- You need to model the St Andrew’s Cathedral School values and behaviours and uphold the Independent Sporting Association Code of Conduct
- Have a current Working with Children Check and First Aid or be prepared to obtain these
Prior experience in a school setting is an advantage but not essential.
Our Season
SACS basketball competes within the Independent Sporting Association. The season runs within school terms. Our team selection trials, and weekday training, will begin at the end of August (within term 3). Competition begins in term 4 2025 (October) and will continue into term 1 2026. The season will end in early to mid-March 2026 (depending on finals qualification)
