Description

The Communications Officer is responsible for developing and implementing Baseball SA's communications and marketing strategy. This role will manage all internal and external communications, aiming to increase the visibility of baseball, enhance stakeholder engagement, and promote the organization's programs and events. The Officer will create compelling content across various platforms, manage digital channels, and support the growth of the Baseball SA brand throughout South Australia.

KEY TASKS

Content Creation & Digital Media Management:

  • Plan, create, and schedule engaging content for all Baseball SA digital channels, including the website, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), and e-newsletters.
  • Write and distribute media releases, news articles, and promotional materials.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Baseball SA website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging.
  • Develop basic graphic design and video content to support communication objectives.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and foster a positive online community.

Marketing & Promotions:

  • Implement marketing plans to promote competitions, pathway programs, events, and school holiday camps.
  • Develop strategies to increase social media engagement, website traffic, and membership growth.
  • Analyze and report on the performance of digital channels and marketing campaigns.
  • Assist with the marketing and promotion of key events, such as finals series and awards nights.

Stakeholder Communication & PR:

  • Manage the distribution of regular communications to clubs, members, and other key stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with local media outlets to generate positive media coverage for the sport.
  • Assist the General Manager with the preparation of presentations, reports, and other corporate communications.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all organizational communications.
  • Support the fulfillment of sponsorship agreements through marketing and promotional activities.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar communications or marketing role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and content creation skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Proven experience managing websites (e.g., via a CMS) and professional social media accounts.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) and social media scheduling tools.
  • Basic graphic design (e.g., Canva) and/or video editing skills are highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • A proactive, creative, and strategic thinker with high attention to detail.

LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS, AND  QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • National Police / Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain one).
