We're recruiting a variety of new roles in advance of the WNBL 2025/26 season - a move reflecting a strategic effort to enhance the management and operations of the WNBL, ensuring it aligns with broader goals for growth, visibility, and competitive success within women's basketball.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a dedicated Match Day Manager to serve as the WNBL's primary point of contact in the venue for every game. This role is imperative to maintaining the integrity of the WNBL competition and assisting the WNBL's ability to deliver a premium sports entertainment product during this transformative period.
You'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with WNBL rules, maintaining player and official safety, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to deliver seamless game day operations. This position requires someone with hands-on experience in large-scale events and understanding of compliance requirements in professional sporting environments.
This is a casual position for the 25/26 Season requiring physical presence at the venue on game day, with comprehensive induction and training commencing before the season kicks off.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Game Operations
- Conduct comprehensive safety and OH&S review of the playing court and surrounds to ensure optimal conditions for elite competition
- Oversee implementation and enforcement of various WNBL Rules across all game day activities
- Assist venue security with implementation of WNBL Accreditation Rules and access protocols
- Perform uniform reviews of game officials and teams to ensure compliance with league standards
- Support in-venue Technical Officials in performing their roles effectively
- Coordinate with WNBL Replay Centre where applicable to ensure seamless technology integration
In-Game Management
- Receive and respond to notifications from the WNBL Replay Centre where applicable, rectifying issues during games in timely manner
- Continue enforcement of various WNBL Rules and report breaches to the WNBL for investigation
- Assist in identification of courtsiders and unruly spectators, compiling evidence for Integrity Officer investigations
- Ensure safety of all players and game officials throughout the match duration
- Maintain constant vigilance to uphold the premium entertainment experience for fans
Post-Game Coordination
- Oversee conclusion of various WNBL Rules post-game and ensure compliance completion
- Complete comprehensive post-match reports as required by the WNBL
- Liaise with Club and Venue management concerning any issues that arose during the game
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders for seamless event conclusion and venue handover
About You
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with ability to coordinate multiple parties effectively
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships
- Relevant experience in monitoring and management of rules and regulations in major event settings
- Experience in professional sporting environment highly desirable but not essential
- Proven ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress, fast-paced situations
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements and ability to enforce regulations confidently
- Physical fitness to be present and active throughout entire game day operations
- Flexibility to work casual hours aligned with WNBL game schedule
