We are seeking a permanent, full-time Head Coach of Swimming to lead our program.  

As the Head Coach of Swimming, you will lead the development of staff and students to drive Ascham Swimming to the next level. This will involve developing an innovative and engaging squad program that includes not only the representative school teams (IPSHA and IGSA Squads) but also help the continued expansion of the squad program at a State and National Level. The overarching focus is on maximising the positive effects of school sports involvement for our students in addition to providing a highly sort after Swimming Squad Program.  

What You Will Do 

  • Provide leadership for our squad program from the foundational squads through to our national squads across both the Junior and Senior School.  
  • Provide effective leadership to student-athletes to support both successful academic development and sporting excellence.  
  • Liaise effectively with the Head of Sport, Sports administration team and various stakeholders about the Swimming Squad program including strategic priorities, program administration, scheduling and student wellbeing.  
  • Take a proactive approach to monitoring and maintaining health and safety standards within the program, including injury prevention and incident management.  
  • Perform other duties as required by the Head of Sport. 

What You Will Bring 

  • A Development Level Coaching Qualification in Swimming (or willingness to obtain this qualification).  
  • Demonstrated swimming coaching experience within a youth sports context with a strong background across the 6-18 years age bracket, including across all swimming disciplines.  
  • An ability to be an effective team member, including initiative, passion, willingness to collaborate and people management skills to drive holistic sports involvement.  
  • Proven experience in coaching and/or leading other coaches in their discipline  
  • Ability to follow instructions, work unsupervised and be a cooperative team member 
  • Understanding of and commitment to WHS legislation and risk management principles 
  • A valid Working with Children Clearance (WWCC) and First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
