ABOUT US

Knox Grammar School is an independent, multi-campus Kindergarten to Year 12 day and boarding school for boys, located at Wahroonga on Sydney’s North Shore. In addition to the single-sex campuses, Knox also operates Wahroonga Preparatory School, a co-educational campus for students Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The casual Swim Coach will work with the Head Swim Coach towards creating an engaging, positive and progressive program and learning environment in which students of all abilities are supported in the process of skill development.

The current Swim Program runs for 50 weeks a year with regular weekdays and weekend work required. Hours may increase during the Summer season with club swim meets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Improve the swimming standard and the competitive skills of each swimmer while promoting competitive swimming
  • Coach a range of stroke development squads, school squads as well as the growing prep school squads.
  • Support the swimmers at club competitions, school competitions and race nights
  • Pre-plan and develop session structures, in conjunction Head Coach.
  • Conduct squad sessions to meet the defined needs of the students.
  • Responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of the programs and policies of the pool.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of equipment, cleanliness of the storage area and setting up and packing away equipment required for lessons.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Teacher of Competitive Strokes
  • Experience coaching junior competitive swimmers
  • Provide First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Bronze Coaching license (desirable)
  • Silver Coaching License (desirable)
  • Pool Lifeguard (desirable)
  • Teaching or Sports Science degree (desirable)
  • Experience working with young adolescents, ideally in a school setting.
  • Understanding of mentoring, supporting and encouraging players.
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel independently between sites.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on building and maintaining quality relationships with all members of the School’s community.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt and operate effectively in a demanding and changing environment.
