United Swimming is looking for a dedicated and energetic full time Head Swimming Coach to join our team. Applications are currently invited from experienced Swim Coaches for this leadership position. As our Head Swimming Coach, you will be responsible for overseeing our squad program from Semi Squad through to our Performance squads.
At United Swimming, we are dedicated to designing and providing swimming and training programs to people of all ages and skill levels. Each week we help over 3,000 students become safer and more confident in and around the water. From Learn-to-Swim to Competitive Squad programs, we strive to create the best learning environment to produce high-performing swimmers between 7 and 13 years old. Our swimmers have excelled at the NSWPSSA and All Schools Swimming Championships (School State), as well as the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships (School Nationals).
We operate at 5 locations across Sydney, including Croydon, Lidcombe, Epping, Top Ryde and Wahroonga catering for a range of needs.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary purpose of this role is to manage United Swimming squad program and coach junior and senior squads and swimmers through the transition from the learn to swim program to the squad program. The Head Swimming Coach will be responsible for both junior and senior development with the United Swimming squad program. The squad swimming coach will also be required to coach or assist with school groups, junior and senior squads, and intensive programs when needed. This role requires well-developed communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability to teach swimming principles to a variety of skill levels.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high quality swimming sessions, ensuring safety, and skill development for participants of all ages. Your role will be integral in maintaining the highest standards of aquatic instruction.
General Responsibilities:
Coaching: general expected responsibilities of a head swim coach, including:
- Setting workout and meet schedules. Designing and overseeing training plans, including coaching at practices
- Setting goals for the team, assistant coaches, and individual swimmers
- Attending swim events
- Placing swimmers in appropriate training groups
- Maintaining memberships and certifications required by Austswim and Swim Australia and other governing bodies as required
Supervising staff: day-to-day supervision of assistant coaches and lifeguards, including:
- Setting schedules
- Holding regular staff meetings
- Setting direction for staff and conducting yearly reviews
- Hiring and maintaining appropriate number of staff
Communication: all levels of communication with the parents, swimmers, assistant coaches, and team leaders and Director, including:
- Providing adequate time for parents and swimmers to discuss evaluations, goals, and performance
- Regular updates to the parents and team
- Attending regular meetings
Program administration: Establishing creative programs to serve the communities
- Promoting and growing the team and recruiting new swimmers
- Assisting in budgets and fundraising activities
- Purchasing equipment
- Acting as the liaison between the team and the pool facility
- Representing the team within the United Swimming and PLC Sydney Swim Club community
- Establishing appropriate code of conduct and expectations for swimmers, assistant coaches, and parents
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- Development Coach
- Current First Aid and Pool Lifeguard qualifications
- Working with Children Check
- NSW Police Check
- Current Swim Australia or AUSTSWIM accreditation with a minimum of 2 years swim teacher experience
- Minium 2 years of experience in swim coaching
- Understanding of swimming performance and training techniques
- Commitment to service excellence and ability to problem solve
