The City of Blacktown Basketball Association is seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Court Supervisor. As a Court Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of basketball competitions and providing a safe and enjoyable environment for players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
Responsibilities:
Overall Management: Ensuring that all CBBA equipment and belongings are looked after. Ensure compliance with CBBA/BNSW rules, regulations, procedures and policies.
Facility Supervision: Monitor the overall condition and cleanliness of the CBBA facilities and equipment, including the referee room, office space and storage lockup. Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly. Also report any court/stadium issues that need to be passed onto the court facility manager.
Game Support: Assist with pre-game setup - including court layout, banner placement, scoreboard set-up, tablet scoring set-up and equipment preparation. Coordinate with referees, coaches, and team representatives to address any issues that arise during games. When games are finished, pack-up to ensure all equipment is stored correctly.
Player and Spectator Safety: Enforce safety protocols and rules to prevent injuries and maintain a secure/safe environment. Respond promptly to accidents or emergencies and provide appropriate first aid or contact emergency services when necessary. Ensuring all players, referees, staff, volunteers, coaches, assistant coaches, managers etc. are abiding by CBBA & BNSW policies & procedures.
Conflict Resolution: Handle disputes, conflicts, and misconduct incidents that occur. Maintain a calm and professional demeanour while resolving conflicts.
Customer Service: Interact with players, coaches, officials, managers and spectators in a friendly and professional manner. Address inquiries, provide information, and offer assistance when needed.
Reporting: Report all incidents that occur. Including injuries, misconduct, etc. via the appropriate forms. Assist referees in reporting incidents that may occur during games.
Administrative Tasks: Complete administrative duties such as record-keeping, safe handling of cash, identifying unregistered players, recording forfeits, helping people register via Basketball Connect, ensure players are tapped on scoring tablets correctly, and ensure referee rosters correctly reflect referee assignments.
Team: Work in conjunction with other court and/or referee supervisors each night to ensure CBBA customers are enjoying their experience. Work with the competitions coordinator to ensure any competition issues are raised (i.e. wrong team lists, unable to ID players, etc.).
Requirements:
Good knowledge of basketball rules, regulations, and gameplay.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
Ability to remain calm and handle stressful situations with professionalism and tact.
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Knowledgeable in google workplace applications - google calendar, google sheets, google drive, google docs, etc.
Availability to work evenings and weekends, as basketball games and events often take place during these times.
