Integrity Officer
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Integrity Officer to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover a parental leave period until March 2026. Reporting to the Head of Integrity, the Integrity Officer is a dual role working across both Basketball Australia and Basketball ACT. The Integrity Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of issues arising under the National Integrity Framework (NIF) across both Basketball Australia and Basketball ACT in a commitment to ensuring our members are participating in a safe, clean, inclusive, and fair sport. This includes education, prevention, monitoring, intelligence, and investigations, while also focusing on strong governance practices and governance support of affiliated Basketball ACT Member Clubs.
This position will be based in Canberra and we will consider Full Time or 0.8 Part Time.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage matters arising under Basketball Australia’s National Integrity Framework, including education, prevention strategies, investigating alleged breaches, monitoring, intelligence and supporting respondents, witnesses, and complainants.
- Manage sensitive and confidential information and intelligence in a centralised complaint management system.
- Provide timely information and intelligence reports to the BA Head of Integrity.
- Lead and assist the management of investigations and hearings initiated under the National Integrity Framework.
- Compile briefs of evidence and other documentation for presentation to the Head of Integrity, Hearings and Tribunals.
- Provide integrity advice and guidance to stakeholders, including the state and territory basketball associations and participants.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with integrity requirements to safeguard the sport.
- Contribute to the review and update of National Integrity Framework policies and procedures.
- Respond appropriately to all reports and complaints, including potential allegations of historical abuse or harm within a basketball environment, which may involve responding to child abuse or making reports to child protection agencies.
- Take proactive steps to safeguard all participants in the sport and ensure that appropriate support and welfare mechanisms are in place and made available to complainants, respondents and other affected parties.
- As required respond to and support investigations of matters impacting the integrity of the sport including wagering, match fixing, anti-doping, drug use and corruption.
Qualities, Capablity and Experience
- Qualifications or professional experience in integrity, safeguarding, education, law, investigations or law enforcement, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role for a sporting organisation desirable.
- Knowledge and prior experience with sport disciplinary procedures desirable.
- Demonstrated record of appropriate handling of confidential information and managing a range of high- profile projects.
