About our Baden-Powell Activity Centre
The Baden Powell Activity Centre is an Outdoor Education (OE) and recreation facility providing schools and community groups with high quality OE programs and services specialising in outdoor and expedition-based activities.
Historic site situated on 36 hectares adjoining Lane Cove National Park, the Baden-Powell Activity Centre offers flexible training facilities, adventurous activities, and cabin-style accommodation in a tranquil bush land setting only 25 kilometres from Sydney CBD. Located in Pennant Hills within walking distance from the train station
Position Purpose:
The Activity Instructor works within a small team to facilitate a variety of activities and programs for customers of the activity centre. The Activity Instructor is required to engage with, lead, guide, educate, and supervise activities for customers as they enjoy a variety of structured outdoor recreational and campsite-based activities.
Facilitation of Activities & Supervision
- Lead and supervise Groups in outdoor activities, ensuring the safety of all participants.
- Supervise and organise Groups for mealtimes/dining.
- Address disruptive and/or inappropriate behaviour.
Camp Duties
- Develop and maintain positive public relations with local schools, groups, and authorities.
- Develop and maintain good relations with all participants, teachers, carers, and leaders.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Activities team to ensure activities are supervised, smoothly run and safe for Members.
- Treat all participants with dignity and respect and observe professional boundaries.
- Recognise the needs of activity participants at various stages of development.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service courses, workshops, etc. as required.
Administration
- Ensure Activity Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) are read and signed off as read and understood.
- Check and collect Liability Release Forms from all participants from Groups that are participating in activities (this is not required for Scout Member Groups).
Essential Selection Criteria
- Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check or willing to obtain.
- Current Senior First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain.
- Experience working with children or young people or relevant experience in adventurous activities or a Current qualified Scout Leader.
- Must have own transport.
- Certificate III or higher in Outdoor Leadership highly desirable.
