The Role

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Social Sport Coordinator to lead the delivery of our social sport, school sport, and martial arts programs at Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC).

In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with members and internal and external stakeholders to ensure our programs are engaging, well-resourced, and aligned with the needs of our active community.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and administer all sport competitions, social sessions, and school sport including competition builds, space allocation, registration management, fixtures and tables, employee and contractor rostering, equipment management, and financial and non-financial reporting. 
  • Coordinate the delivery and growth of the martial arts program, including liaising with personnel, growing program memberships, and developing new program offerings in line with customer expectations and business needs. 
  • Support the Manager, Fitness Services and Community Programs to develop and implement pricing structures and program offerings to successfully meet business objectives and comply with audit requirements. 
  • Work with the Customer Experience & Sales Team to promote programs, increasing awareness and participation as well as to coordinate the booking of facilities for the delivery of programs. 
  • Work with the HR team to recruit and manage staff, building and maintaining a respectful and highly effective team culture that is operationally effective and responsive to Campus Life’s values. 
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with participants and staff for the provision of a professional and vibrant social sport program, including dealing with disciplinary matters in the social sports competitions. 
  • In alignment with MUSAC event calendar contribute to and support the implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives that promote cultural awareness and engagement, acceptance, and participation of all, including (but not limited to) those who identify as LGBTQ, Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and people with disabilities.

About You 

To be successful, you must have: 

  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising and coaching a diverse team. 
  • Demonstrated experience in sports administration and in leading and delivering sport programs within a University or equivalent community organisation. 
  • Proven ability with data analysis and reporting on large data sets to assist in supporting business decisions. 
  • Ability to follow systems and processes for financial management, including tracking of revenue and expenditure against budget. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal and intercultural communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively and to establish, build and maintain respectful and ethical relationships with staff, students, and other key stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service, with the ability to deal with complaints and/or conflict in a respectful and effective manner. 
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skill in Microsoft Office applications, including database management.

Other Specific Requirements 

  • First Aid Certificate with CPR (please list in resume). 
  • Working with Children Check (include clearance number in resume). 
  • Criminal history check. 
  • Minimum of 6hrs/week of direct service. 
  • Standard work hours will vary including weekend and evening work on a rotational basis to meet the needs of the business.
