Somerville House is a day and boarding school for girls established in 1899, providing exceptional education for students from Prep through to Year 12, with co-educational Pre-Prep offering. Somerville House students have the opportunity to participate in an extensive academic, sporting and cultural program, while receiving high standards in personal care and individual attention within the School community.
Somerville House is a school of the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association (PMSA). The PMSA is a mission of the Presbyterian and Uniting Churches.
The Role
The National Age Head Coach – Swimming will be responsible for leading and developing swimmers in the National Age Squad, as well as overseeing the Somerville House QGSSSA Swimming Team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Swimming in the oversight and direction of the Somerville House school and club program, while developing and maintaining close working relationships.
Our ideal candidate will have a passion about the development of girls’ sport in general, with a strong focus towards supporting students from Prep to year 12 achieving their best and encouraging participation.
The successful candidate is expected to be dynamic, invested, experienced and highly motivated, with a strong emphasis on strategic and inspirational leadership for all swimmers in the school and club program. Due to the nature of this role, flexibility in coaching hours will need to be managed with any administrative tasks required.
About You
- Are you an experienced and highly developed Swimming Coach with capabilities to work with a variety of stakeholders?
- Do you have that passion for swimming that will allow you to help develop, strengthen, and assist girls at a variety of different skill levels?
- Do you have the skills and abilities of a leader that is able to communicate, manage and inspire all swimming coaches and students?
- Are you a highly engaged and knowledgeable on current swimming coaching practice/s?

It is a mandatory requirement to hold a current working with children check (paid blue card) and current First Aid and CPR. Whilst not essential it would be highly desirable to hold a Sports Administration/Health Sciences Degree and a Swimming Australia Advanced Coaching License.
