Twisters started as a husband and wife team in 2010 and we are now one of the largest gymnastics clubs in Australia. We have 2 venues in inner city Melbourne, 1 venue in the Regional town of Torquay and plans to add 2 more venues in the next 7 years. We employ over 120 staff, a large amount of which are teenagers experiencing their first ever job. We are specialists in the recreational gymnastics space and service over 2900 children in Victoria. Our purpose is to help kids Grow Through Movement. Gymnastics Coach
We are looking to employ a gymnastics coach that has the knowledge of gymnastics skills up to intermediate tumbling and advanced recreational skills. You have a passion for teaching recreational gymnastics, running high energy classes that engage and delight children. Reporting to a location manager, you’ll be an internally driven self starter who leads by example. You will be responsible for mentoring the less experienced coaches in training, and helping to build our workforce of passionate coaches in Northcote.
On any given day you might be working with a 3 year old helping to manage their big emotions, followed by an energetic class of ninjas and finishing with some talented gymnasts that are working on their routines for competitions. No day is the same and it will keep you fit and healthy, moving, lifting and showing basic gymnastics skills. No hours upon hours at the desk here!
There is some flexibility of shift days, with a current schedule of working Saturdays. Your schedule is stable with changes only happening annually. This is a fantastic role for someone who has got good basic gymnastics knowledge, but isn’t looking to produce the next Aussie Olympian. They love seeing kids take a step forwards in their progress every time they walk into the gym!
To be successful in this role you need:
- Minimum Gymnastics Australia Intermediate Coaching qualification (Or RGA qualification) or ability to get recognition of prior learning with an equivalent qualification.
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Follow positive coaching practices and always act in a child safe manner.
- A passion and some experience in delivering fun, high energy classes, staying focused on the participants experience of safely learning gymnastics progressions and skills.
- Good communication skills and demonstrated success in developing and maintaining good relationships with students, their parents and fellow staff.
- A history demonstrating honesty and reliability and a demonstrated commitment to continual learning.
- The physical ability to spot children, move gymnastics equipment and show basic gymnastics movement, as you demonstrate for those visual learners in classes.
- An absolute love of working with kids!!
